Nofima AS, the Norwegian Institute of Food, Fisheries and Aquaculture Research, is one of the largest European applied research institutes servicing the food industry. The institute, headquartered in Tromsø, Norway, and organized in three divisions: Food science, Aquaculture and Seafood. In 2018, the institute had 390 employees of whom 216 are scientists. Nofima’s objective is to deliver internationally renowned, applied research and innovations leading to increased competitiveness along the value chain. We base our services and activities on deep insight of the industry’s challenges, excellent research with a focus on problem solving solutions. This is enabled through a well-trained staff and state-of-the-art research infrastructure.
